A really nice wedding album from 2017 Cat and Adam at Brands Hatch Spa Hotel

We had a great day and it turned out that my assistant, Jemma, knew the groom, in fact as they are both music fans of a particular style (metal) Adam knew Ben, Jemma's drummer husband very well.

Myself being in a band as well (Guitarist) felt very at home with these guys who really love each other, Dad's speech was extensive to say the least and well thought out with props and all.

You could really see how genuine this was for both of them on the day.

Help for disabled horse riders RDA - At Arrow Riding

What a lovely lady, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne paid a visit to Arrow Riding center for the disabled, for obvious reasons it was all hush hush but I was invited to capture the event as they knew me from previous occasions.

Her Royal Highness swept into the location and quite simply spread an almost electric excitement to all who attended.

The Kids and Adults alike including The Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Eileen Pallen and her consort and other supporters of the charity included David Newstead of the famous Shelby Doo.

What a pleasure it was to share the day and capture so many nice memories for everyone.

Here you can see some examples of the types of varied frames we can provide as well as some before and after shots following a restoration job.

I am hoping to use this in the future when shooting all sorts and hope soon to use it in a music video.

This little collage is from an hours family photo shoot in the studio in Tonbridge, Some years ago if you wanted something like this you would visit a well known branded studio that would offer a free or almost free shoot then following the shoot you were offered credit to purchase your images.

Well photography has come along way and I think it's taking a turning point, many people who brought digital SLR's suddenly became photographers, it is common thought that loads of people are happy to pay through the nose for their photographer but soon enough these people realize it's not as easy as all that.

To survive you have to have a hand in everything, you have to be able to be flexible and most of all you have to be able to be, a photographer, a web builder, a designer, a photo shop expert, have people skills, marketing knowledge, update equipment on a regular basis, know your equipment, learn new skills all the time, be an accountant, I really could go on.

What this all has to do with the collage above is that in the shot there are several different lighting set ups (no natural light) I shot, I kept everyone happy (including the kids) I then edited the shots and created a gallery with about 60 images from the shoot, all of this takes time and to be fair to my clients the shoot was a reasonable fee and included prints.

Not Just Wedding Photography 

I thought it would be a good idea to post a nice collage from a portrait shoot I had in Knole Park, this shoot was for the clients social media and while we were there I got a little more in the way of shots than the client expected.

Whats worse, not having enough shots or having too many?

Needless to say the client was very happy and will hopefully recommend me to other people she knows looking for the same sort of thing.

Her gallery included 99 images and the collage is just a small selection from that gallery.

Hopefully this will work as a link and you will see me looking pretty tired as I have been up since 4am and have just worked out how to use my new 360 degree camera using my smartphone to control it, this is the first image I took in my edit room.

visit my new website

Hi there, I have finished the new documentary website now and would love some feedback on how it looks and the content or any suggestions you may have.
my exsisting site is still up and running and is the main focus of my business (excuse the pun) but I wanted an offering that pointed at a different client.

There are so many 'photographers' out there now and some clients simply cant see the difference between them, to others the difference is obvious, well the clinets that recognise the obvious difference, these are the ones that this is pointed at.

I'm not in any way saying wht other photographers offer is bad, after all its all about perception and if you are happy with what you receive then fantastic, but as a photographer myself who is constantly trying to acheive better images and as a guitarist in a band (we write our own music) this theme follows through whatever I do.

So if you have a chance then give me some feedback on the new site please.

Ok so I am in the process of building my new offering that is a little different from my current business, Sevenoaks Photography offer a much more bespoke service that get much more into the editing to create unique artistic photography, not that my current business matt james photography has not artistic offerings, however sevenoaks photography is much more about natural light and the edit to extra time is spent on each image and therefore it is a little more expensive.

getting to grips with low light photography

well some call it low light some call it natural light, its either really, what I do know is that first you need the right equipment, len's that can go down to f1.2 - 2.8 these are fast and can collect great light in a minimal light enviroment like a church where really you dont want flashes going off all the time

there is still a skill to using them you have to look for the subject or emotion in a shot then find the light as well to take best advantage of the potential shot, but if it happens its magic :-)
